The village of Oosteeklo is originally an agricultural village in the heart of the Meetjesland. In addition to a few local bakers and butchers, you will of course find some cafés and even home brewery Den Tseut (www.huisbrouwerijdentseut.be) where you can taste a delicious local beer.

Within walking distance of the B&B you will find the Abbey Farm (Abdijhoeve) where horse lovers Hugo Boelens and family would like to take you on a nice trip through Oosteeklo and surroundings with a traditional carriage or covered wagon. More info and reservation www.vandeabdijhoeve.be.

Wind mill & horse mill on one yard

As a reminder of the agricultural past of Ertvelde, you will find a unique combination of stone mill and horse mill on the same yard. The miller Johan Van Holle still practices the profession. Right next to the yard is the Molenhuis where it is nice and cozy dining (www.tmolenhuis.be)

Provinciaal Streekcentrum Huysmanhoeve is the ideal starting point for the discovery of the Meetjesland. You will find the tourist office of the Meetjesland and can get acquainted with the different aspects of this fascinating region: nature, culture, history, landscape and recreation. Back to public transport from a bygone time: a ride of about 10 km with the steam train through the Meetjesland. Events and theme days are regularly organized. You can find the timetable and more information about this volunteer work on www.stoomcentrum.be
